Fall is my favorite

Fall is my favorite season of the year. I love everything about it, especially the way life changes up north. The crisp air, cool breezes, changing of the leaves…it’s so wonderful. Last year Scott & I ventured up to the Poconos in November, and it couldn’t have been a better time to go. Each morning I was awakened by the delicate light of the early morning sun trickling into my window. The crisp, cool air floated into my room, and filled my nose with such delicious autumnal scents. I would get out of bed each day and just stare out the window, smelling the air, and feeling every inch of my skin as the breeze touched it.

This is my ideal way to wake up each day. It makes me happy to be alive, excited to start a new day, and thankful for everything in my life. I’m like a little kid anxiously waiting to run outside and jump into that big pile of leaves that was just racked up. Living in South Florida has made me miss autumn. I always end up in a reminiscent lull of times past. I was thinking about the feeling I always get each time autumn starts creeping up, (the underlying excitement inside that starts in my stomach) and thought it would be so fun to create a list of what I absolutely love about fall, my fall favorites.

  • Autumn air. The way it smells and feels is just out of this world, and there’s nothing like it. It cannot be recreated, even with tons of money and lots of creativity.
  • Honey Crisp Apples. One word. YUM.
  • Warm apple cider. What is more fun than spending a chilly evening sitting around a camp fire, drinking hot or warm apple cider? I used to do this all the time as a little girl, when my parents would take me to Old Bethpage in New York.
  • Cinnamon. Cinnamon is great all year round, but it’s more special during autumn. When used in foods & beverages like pumpkin pie, apple cider, sweet potatoes, etc it just really gives the feeling that it’s fall.
  • Pumpkins. I love everything about pumpkins. Their smell, the way they look, picking them at a pumpkin patch, carving out the pumpkin seeds and baking them…
  • Sweaters. Gosh do I wish I could have the chance to curl up on a swing outside in a big chunky, comfy sweater and just enjoy the day.
  • Bittersweet. Thanks to memories with my dad, bittersweet is a fall staple for me.
  • Leaves. Did you ever do that project in school where you encase a leave in wax paper? That was one of my favorite projects during autumn. I love the way the leaves look, smell and feel during autumn too. It’s incredible how stunning a dying leaf can look.
  • Flowers. Aside from Lilacs, my favorite flowers are the ones that come around during autumn time. Mums, sunflowers, brown eyes susan’s…
  • Gords & Multi-Colored Corn. By far my favorite decorations for fall. How fun is it to have a cute little miniature pumpkin??
These are just a few of my favorite fall things. What is your favorite season? Why?
