As a plus size woman, I’m constantly reminded of the “fashion rules” that I must follow – or else. This leaves us curvy girls with an array of limiting, boring, ugly options. I want more options! Trying to stay confined to a tight unfriendly, unfashionable box is not my thing. I gathered all of my strength and busted out of that “rules of fashion” box. Today, I am breaking fashion rules! The age old rule that’s meant to be broken: plus size girls, or girls with larger than average sized arms cannot wear sleeveless tops. Heck yes, I can, and I will!
I’ve teamed up with an amazing brand, Society+, and Society+ to show you that breaking the rules is fun, easy, and empowering. I’ve always, always been self conscious about my large upper arms. I’ve tried exercises, dieting, and so much more. I confined myself to always wearing short sleeves or longer to conceal my arms. Not anymore. I’ve even decided to further break this rule and blow past my comfort zone by getting a full sleeve tattoo on my left arm. My tattoo is very much in progress and in the beginning stages, but I am in love with it. My tattoo, though a drastic was to break this fashion rule, has boosted my confidence so much that I WANT to show it off. I don’t care if I have large upper arms. When I slipped into this strappy, sexy crop top with this perfect black skirt I felt SO good. I felt like I could go anywhere, do anything, be who I am with no shame. Of course I was nervous as I left my house, but the looks I got from strangers were good ones, and my husbands’ face said it all. I look good, I feel good, and darn it, baby, I will show my arms off, regardless. Society+ is such an incredible, empowering brand that celebrates body positivity and body love. The 2015 Kia Soul! is an awesome little car that I feel is pretty underrated. I partnered with DriveShop to test drive the 2015 Kia Soul!. I was lucky enough to spend a great week with the Kia Soul!, thanks to my friends at DriveShop. The car itself is fully loaded – I’m talking backup camera, panoramic sunroof, color changing speakers, leather interior, the works!
I was seriously surprised at how roomy the car is. I could fit four larger sized people plus some stuff in the trunk and everyone was super comfy! For a four cylinder vehicle, the car definitely has some pep to it. It is a nice and light weight car that handles really well on the highway and in the city. The maneuverability of the car was one of my favorite things about driving it. Plus – can we talk about how good this color is?? The vibrant red is a gorgeous color, and just adds to the car.

Flare jeans are making a HUGE come back and I am one happy girl!! I love me some flare jeans. As a plus size girl, trying to decide how to style plus size flare jeans can be difficult depending on the look you are trying to achieve. I feel so rooted in 1970s fashion, that I had to channel Woodstock for this outfit. I love pairing bright colors with a great pair of flare jeans. These flares, or actually super flares, are one of my favorite pairs of jeans in my closet. Since Spring and Summer are pretty warm if not scorching hot down here in South Florida, I picked this beautiful Karen Kane light weight hoodie to pair with my plus size flare jeans. The colors are bright, sunny, and make me feel so good. This is such a cute and comfy casual outfit.

Free People is a great brand to shop straight sizes as a plus size girl. Their items tend to be over sized, flowy, and tend to flatter a variety of shapes and sizes. I generally wear a size 18/20, and in Free People a size Large fits me beautifully. You can bet that that Merida Print Dress is going to make it’s way into my closet during the sale! It’s gorgeous, and perfect for warm Spring weather. Its also a great transition piece to wear in the Summer, especially down here in sunny South Florida! It’s always great to find a designer in straight sizes that we can wear as plus size women, right??
I love the gentle blush pink of the Margiela eyelet bag. It’s quite lovely, and works as a neutral during the Spring & Summer. If you are looking for an edgier version (if blush pink simply isn’t your thing), it also comes in a sassy black and red!

Summer is coming!! With the arrival of Summer comes the time of year that many women hate the most – Swimsuit season. I generally am not a fan of swimsuit season. I always feel that when I wear a swimsuit, everyone’s eyes will automatically divert to my inner thighs, and not see me. My inner thighs are my current source of body insecurities. I’ve declined some invitations to beach days with friends out because of fear of how my thighs would look out in the open for everyone to see. It may sound silly, but it has effected my judgement and choices when it comes to Summer fun more than I’d like to admit. Do you feel that way about any aspect of your body?
My insecurities about my thighs always made swimsuit shopping difficult. I decided that this year would be different. I mean, I’m a grown woman, I can do whatever I want – thanks Queen B! I took my swimsuit shopping by the reins, set my insecurities to the sidelines, and picked out some really cute suits from Target’s plus size department for the coming Summer months.

I have to say, the fits are pure perfection. I’ve never put on a swim suit and felt the butterflies of excitement in my stomach that I felt when I saw myself in the mirror. Girl, Yasss! Finally, some beautiful swimsuits that make me feel gorgeous, that look amazing on me, and make me ready to play in the waves. In case you are an online shopper, like me, you can order a swimsuit from Target’s site and try it on at home. I really liked that the best, because I could really see how it fit in my own mirror, and be extra picky with what I love and don’t love. The best part is that Target has free shipping AND free returns, so it’s basically like shopping without having to hope that the store near you has your size!
I am dying over these three swimsuits in particular. In general, I like to size down in swimsuits, because I don’t want them to be roomy. I like them to fit like a glove, so to speak, and these suits did not disappoint! The purple laser-cut flounce top once piece?? I’ve never felt so girly and sweet in a swimsuit before this beauty arrived in my closet. Let’s talk about the gorgeous crochet detail of the bikini swim top. It’s comfy, it’s cute, and it’s sexy. I have big outfit plans for this bikini top. I adore the black and white tankini with the cute ruched sided bottom. It’s so flattering and supportive, and it makes me excited to head to the beach for an all-day adventure!
